417,000: Our Foundation for Fairness

That's right.

On Election Day 2004 417,097 Kentuckians voted against marriage discrimination.

Those "No" voters represent a base we canmobilize. And statistics on LGBT acceptance tell us that the people most likely to support Fairness are the peoplewe know—our friends and our family.

Friends & Family logo.Friends & Family is a membership club in their honor, through which Fair-minded folks everywhere can make a financial investment in the work of defending the civil rights of all Kentuckians.

Your membership dollars fund the legislative efforts of the Kentucky Fairness Alliance. KFA has led the way in defeating bills and amendments that target LGBT Kentuckians for discrimination.

Our local chapters in Lexington and Covington have moved their city councils to pass Fairness ordinances protecting their LGBT residents' civil rights.

In 2006, we worked with over 100 volunteers to meet 87 out of 138 state senators and representatives in person.

This physical presence, reinforced by thousands of e-mail and phone messages, helped recruit a record 13 co-sponsors of the statewide Fairness bills.

Ampersand. The Ampersand symbolizes the solidarity we are building through Friends & Family, and suggests the inclusiveness we are working toward. It reflects the idea that no one individual, legislator, organization, or city can carry all the water for equality. Our success lies in our solidarity.
