KENTUCKY FAIRNESS ALLIANCE CONGRATULATES LEXMARK INTERNATIONAL FOR RECOGNITION AS “BEST PLACE TO WORK”

Lexington --- Lexmark International, Inc. has earned a “Best Place to Work” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, and a third consecutive 100% rating in HRC’s 2008 Corporate Equality Index. Lexmark is the only Kentucky company to achieve either honor.

“Lexmark International has proven itself a leader and strong partner in promoting a fair workplace and a fair Kentucky,” said Christina Gilgor, executive director of the Kentucky Fairness Alliance. “KFA extends sincere congratulations and thanks to Lexmark for its leadership on these issues.”

The Index rates employers on a scale from 0 to 100 percent on their treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors. Ratings are based on factors like non-discrimination policies, diversity training and benefits for domestic partners and transgender employees. Companies also earn points by supporting GLBT community events and organizations, such as the Kentucky Fairness Alliance’s annual dinner, which Lexmark has sponsored every year since the dinner’s inception.

The Corporate Equality Index rated 519 businesses this year, of which 195 received the top score. The report can be downloaded from HRC’s website at www.hrc.org/cei.
