Non-Board Committee Leadership
Rev. Dr. Albert M. Pennybacker (Religious Advisory Committee)
Dr. Pennybacker, an ordained minister and pastor for 35 years in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and former Associate General Secretary of the National Council of Churches, has for many years been involved in the civil rights movement. He has served as a faculty member at the Lexington Theological Seminary, as well as a visiting professor at Yale Divinity School, where he taught about religious persecution as it occurs around the globe.
Staff
Christina Gilgor, Lexington (executive director)
Ms. Gilgor has a B.A. in Social Work and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kentucky. Her experience with the General Electric Corporate Audit Staff inspired her to bring similar performance and outcome management rigors to the public sphere. She has experience managing a ten-county community mental health facility with a $16 million annual budget. For the 5 years prior to joining KFA, she operated a private consulting firm through which she provided political campaign management and fundraising training.
Lindsey Lilly, Bowling Green (communication intern)
Ms. Lilly, a native of Taylorsville, Kentucky, is joining KFA as a summer intern. She is a senior at Western Kentucky University, where she is studying corporate & organizational communication, political science, and non-profit management. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and vinyl record hunting, as well as working to promote fair housing development in Bowling Green. During her internship, she will lead KFA's efforts to organize screenings of the documentary "For the Bible Tells Me So" in rural Kentucky communities.
Wes Wright, Newport (legislative liaison)
Mr. Wright has a valuable combination of political, gay rights, campaign and news media experience. He has 8 years’ experience in political, gay rights, and campaign work, including 5 years as district field representative for U.S. Representative Ken Lucas (D-KY), a stint on the No on the Amendment (anti-marriage) campaign, and more than two years with the Kentucky Fairness Alliance. Prior to 1999, Mr. Wright was an accomplished journalist, with an 18-year career in the Cincinnati radio-tv-cable news market that included experience as anchor, reporter, field producer, and assignment editor. Mr. Wright is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University.
Misty York, Bowling Green (communication director)
Mrs. York is a Kentucky native and a graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green with a Master of Arts in Communication and a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies. She received her Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. She has served as a volunteer with Planned Parenthood, the 2004 Kentucky No on the Amendment Campaign, and in LGBT outreach for national political candidates. She continues to volunteer for the Women's Studies Program at WKU and the Bradley University Alumni Association. She has received local, state, and national honors in writing and public speaking. She serves as KFA's newsletter editor, press coordinator, and graphics/web designer. Her writing for the Kentucky Fairness Alliance has appeared in mainstream and LGBT publications around the state, including the Bowling Green Daily News, The Letter (Louisville), and G3 (Louisville/Lexington).
