Fairness Begins at Home
On February 16 in Hillbrook, Don Wenzel and Ron Darnell hosted an event in their home, both to celebrate the good work of the Kentucky Fairness Alliance, and to educate the audience on some of the specific issues KFA is addressing and advancing on behalf of all fair-minded Kentuckians. The diverse guest list included mainly progressive married couples who were new to KFA's message of hope and fairness. Sen. Tim Shaughnessy and Rep. Tom Burch were guests of honor. Both made remarks on the work they have done to advance the cause. "One of my goals was to reinforce the central message that fairness is a universal concept that resonates with everyone," Wenzel said. Board of Directors Chair Jody Cofer coordinated a second party on April 12 in Cadiz, hosted by Dr. John and Sally Mateja. Guests enjoyed an upscale gathering to celebrate and support a fair Kentucky. Special guests were Sheryl Snyder and Jessica Loving. Snyder is a prominent Louisville attorney who has represented each of the past six Governors of Kentucky. Loving is a University of Louisville trustee and a leader in progressive and women's issues statewide. Both parties' level of success hinged on their respective Leadership Circles, groups of early contributors whose commitments made the events possible. The Kentucky Fairness Alliance sincerely thanks the hosts, special guests, leadership circle members, and all attendees for kicking of the 2008 house party season in style. |
