Bluegrass (Lexington)

On October 7 the Bluegrass Chapter celebrated the success of its educational forum Marriage Equality Matters at the UK Law Courtroom.

Featuring a reading of David Rush’s play Tying the Knot, a short reception with food donated by Co-Op Good Foods, and a panel discussion featuring panelists Rep. Kathy Stein, Rev. Todd Eklof, and attorneys Evan Wolfson and Dennis Stutsman. Wolfson, the executive director of Freedom to Marry, moderated the discussion – which concluded with an audience question-and-answer session.

Heartland (Hardin and nearby counties)

Our priority at the moment is building membership and interest in Fairness throughout Hardin and surrounding counties. We're gearing up for a direct mailing that will raise awareness for our chapter and hopefully get more people to our meetings. We next meet on November 19. E-mail us for the meeting location and to request more information!

Gray Dove (Madison County)

We have been trying to learn as much as possible about the City Commissioners on the slate for election, and have several promising candidates. Once the elections are over, we will switch into high gear to get a Fairness Ordinance passed in Madison County. Our monthly meetings will continue on the 3rd Wednesday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

You can find the address and map to our meeting location on our Website. While you're there, check out our photos. In the shot above, some of our members celebrate at KFA's Out & About dinner.

Northern Kentucky

NKFA's booth at Covington's OktoberfestThe big event for NKFA recently was our third annual booth at Covington’s Oktoberfest. We began having a booth three years ago with much timidity. After all, it’s not a GLBT event and we had no idea how our presence would be received. For the most part our fears were groundless. The reception was positive and we were able to collect several new supporters. Last year we threw caution to the wind and hung rainbow flags and strung colored lights in the booth. Again the reception was very positive.

This year we stepped up the decorations even more using the KFA Unbridled Pride banner along with flags and rainbow table covering. We also featured some incredible blowup graphics of the Senator Roeding Kentucky Post articles thanks to our amazing graphic artist Kim Kennedy.

The reaction was amazing from both GLBT and straight visitors to Oktoberfest. We were overwhelmed by the response of visitors thanking us for being present at the event. On Saturday afternoon, the co-director of the event stopped by and thanked us for being a part of Oktoberfest 2006.

To the volunteers who helped staff the booth, Dean and I extend a very hearty thank you. For those who missed out on the fun this year, well, there is always next year.
