Community Outreach Continues Through August

List of KFA's August activities. For lots of us, the dog days of summer are days to relax, to join family and friends around the back porch grill, and to sit back with an ice cold sweet tea watching the world go by.

That's not the case for us at KFA. Following up on our tremendously successful Unbridled Pride campaign in June, we're extending our community outreach throughout the month of August.

It all starts this weekend as we join in a grand Kentucky tradition—the 126th annual Fancy Farm picnic in Western Kentucky. Our volunteers will meet allies, hear political speeches, and enjoy the legendary barbecue, all while we raise the voice and visibility of fair-minded Kentuckians from all over the Commonwealth. We need plenty of volunteers to help us canvass the crowd, so if you haven't made plans for this weekend, please sign up to raise our visibility at Fancy Farm!

Starting the next weekend and extending through November election season, we'll be running the "Kentucky Votes Fairness" campaign. We've already scheduled Days of Action for Northern Kentucky, Lexington, and Danville for the month of August, with more events to be announced.

To make Kentucky Votes Fairness a success, we've selected key Kentucky House and Senate races in which some of our most notorious anti-fairness legislators have competitive races.

Then, using voter data from 2004, we've located the precincts within those districts where pro-fairness voters reside. On Action Saturdays and Sundays we'll walk door to door in those neighborhoods to meet our fair-minded neighbors face to face. To be a part of this historic voter identification project, please contact Community Organizer/Legislative LIaison Wes Wright, or visit the Events page of our website to sign up.

Raise Visibility at the Kentucky State Fair

In collaboration with Louisville's Fairness Campaign, KFA supporters will once again staff an informational and fundraising booth at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville. From August 17-27 we'll need volunteers every day for 4-hour shifts. We'll pick up your parking and admission fees on the day(s) you volunteer. Sign up today and a KFA or Fairness Campaign staff member will be in touch with you shortly.

This year we're taking our tradition to a new level with Gay Day on Saturday August 26. Gather up your fair-minded family and friends and join us as we show solidarity, raise visibility, and have fun!

More information on these and other activities is available on the KFA Events page. Be sure to watch your e-mail for opportunities to do your part in building the fair Kentucky we envision.
