Editorials Condemn Richard Roeding's Hateful Remarks

In case you haven't heard yet, Sen. Richard Roeding (R-Lakeside Park) made a few appallingly small-minded comments in the newspapers over the weekend.

On Friday he told the Courier-Journal he found the newly approved Domestic Partner Benefit plan “repulsive,” adding, "I don't want to entice any of those people into our state. Those are the wrong kind of people.” (story here)

Almost immediately, our pal Jimmy LaSalvia of Kentucky Log Cabin Republicans put out the call for his resignation. When a reporter from the (Northern) Kentucky Post asked Roeding about it, he called Log Cabin a "bunch of queers." (story here)

The good news is, the editorial pages over the weekend seem to be firmly on the right side of history:

1. Sign the petition thanking the U of L Board of Trustees and urging University President James Ramsey to implement the policy immediately.
   
2. Send an e-mail to your U.S. Representative telling her or him to be a better example than Roeding and oppose the discriminatory federal anti-marriage amendment.
